Choose the kind of sample you want
A foundation shade sample helps you make a buying decision. A skincare sachet lets you try a texture. A product-testing campaign usually asks you to use an item and report back. Start with your actual needs so you spend less time chasing products that will sit unused. Free samples are opportunities to try something, rather than a dependable replacement for your usual shopping.
Join a beauty sampling club
Marie Claire Beauty Drawer and OK! Beauty Club are places to begin. Their profile questions help describe the products that interest you. Who What Wear Beauty Dispatch is another UK sampling community, with an age requirement of 18 or over for requesting samples. Check the official terms, complete your profile truthfully and look out for invitations. Membership does not guarantee a particular product or delivery schedule.

Consider product testing
For a more involved route, look at current Savvy Circle projects or the services in our beauty panels guide. Read the whole brief before applying. You may need to answer screening questions, use a product for a stated period and submit feedback. Only accept an invitation if you have time to complete it. A useful review describes your experience clearly; it does not have to be positive.

Ask at a beauty counter
If you are comparing shades or finishes, ask a staff member whether a take-home sample is available. Explain the product you are considering and what you want to check. A short question such as “Do you have a sample of this shade that I could try at home?” is enough. Availability depends on the counter and its stock. A consultation, a shop tester and a packaged take-home sample are different things.
Read the conditions before claiming
Check the quantity, UK delivery area, closing date and any purchase requirement. If a brand offers samples with an order, they are an extra for a paid purchase. Include postage in the total cost before deciding whether an offer is worthwhile. For social posts or email invitations, check that the destination belongs to the brand or its identified sampling partner before entering your address.
Keep a simple sample record
Save the confirmation and note the date, product and any stated delivery window. This makes it easier to spot duplicate requests and follow up through the right service. When something arrives, keep its instructions and ingredient information. Use the product as directed and do not assume a sample will suit you simply because it was free.
Where to go next
Start with one or two clubs, then browse the latest offers on FreeSamples.co.uk. Our beauty panels guide explains nine places to explore. If you are mainly after shampoo or conditioner, use our hair products guide to plan your search. Avoid buying an unwanted item simply to unlock a small gift.
MyJL Beauty: member sampling opportunities
John Lewis currently lists free samples among its MyJL Beauty benefits. This is part of My John Lewis, so existing members do not need a separate beauty membership. Look in “Rewards & treats” in your account for your available offers. Rewards are personalised and can reflect your shopping activity; a particular sample is not guaranteed for every member.

Clarins: counter samples and samples with an order
Clarins’ UK sampling page invites visitors to speak with a Beauty Advisor at a counter about suitable samples; availability depends on the location and stock. Online, you can choose three complimentary samples when placing an order. The online option requires a purchase and any applicable delivery charge, so it is useful if you already planned to shop. Clarins says it cannot send standalone samples directly by post.
