Your Next Cuppa for Less: Free Tea and Coffee Offers in the UK

Find welcome drinks and member perks, including our Costa and Caffè Nero offers, with purchase conditions explained.

Check each offer’s current conditions before claiming. Some require a purchase, selection or access through a specific scheme.

1. Costa: use our offer page, then check the current reward

Our Costa offer page has the invitation details for joining through the offer. Before registering, check the reward in the Costa app against the current official terms. Costa’s published refer-a-friend scheme currently awards five beans after a new member follows an eligible invitation, registers and makes a qualifying bean-earning purchase. This is progress towards a free drink, not an immediate complimentary coffee on registration. Confirm the reward displayed in your app before making a purchase.

2. Caffè Nero: a welcome drink after your first purchase

Use our Caffè Nero offer page to follow the welcome invitation and set up a new app account. As described on that page, make your first purchase through the app to receive a voucher for a complimentary drink on a later visit. A first purchase is required, so this is not a no-spend welcome drink. Check that the invitation has attached to your account and read the voucher’s eligible drinks, expiry and exclusions before ordering.

3. Greggs: a welcome hot or iced drink

Greggs currently offers a free welcome drink when you register a new account in its app. Its promotion terms say hot drinks in any size are eligible, while iced drinks are available in selected shops. Check the expiry on the reward and show or activate it as directed at the till. This is a one-off new-account offer. Regular stamp rewards involve earlier purchases and should be treated separately from the welcome gift.

4. My Waitrose: a free daily tea or coffee

My Waitrose members can currently get one free hot drink per day from participating Waitrose-branded self-serve machines. Bring a reusable cup and scan your own membership card at the machine. The published terms list tea, Americano, cappuccino, latte, flat white and double espresso. The offer does not apply to the café or served area. It is available in selected stores and excludes petrol filling stations, Shell-operated sites and Welcome Break sites. Check the machine and local availability before travelling.

5. IKEA Family: a free weekday drink

IKEA UK says Family members can have free tea or coffee in participating in-store restaurants from Monday to Friday. IKEA Family is free to join; scan your card at checkout to use the benefit. Its current exclusions are Brighton, Hammersmith, Oxford Street, Aberdeen Order and Collection Point, and Plan and Order Points. Check the restaurant’s opening hours and the official offer page before making a special trip.

Compare the cost before choosing an offer

The easiest offer to use is often one on a route you already take. A free drink is less useful if collecting it costs more in travel. Distinguish a welcome gift from a reward earned through purchases, and check whether milk alternatives or extras are included. Save your voucher and read its expiry before ordering. There is no need to buy an unwanted subscription or make extra purchases just to collect points.

Looking for food as well as a cuppa?

Our free food guide covers sharing apps, community fridges, food banks and community meals. If you need help with groceries, use the local-support routes in that guide rather than relying on occasional drink rewards. It explains how to find services and what collection or referral arrangements to check.
